The Job
As an Electrical Engineering Technician you would install, maintain and repair electrical equipment and controls. The role could see you working in a number of industries such as:
- Power generation & transmission - installing turbines, switchgear, power lines etc
- Industrial machinery and equipment - making/repairing and repairing drives, panels and motors
The role would involve the following tasks:
- Follow Engineering instructions and diagrams to carry out work on installations and repairs
- Operate a wide range of tools to calibrate, test and inspect equipment and machinery
- Ensure machinery and equipment operates in a safe and correct manner
- Depending on your level of experience you may also be responsible for developing maintenance rotas and carry out quality control checks on a number of areas such as production line machinery.
- Comply with health and safety policies in accordance with company procedure
Have you got what it takes?
Individuals would need a basic understanding of maths, science and IT and possess excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate at all levels. This role involves working as part of a team as well as on an individual basis so it is vital to be able to adapt to both situations. Due to the technical nature of the role the ability to read and understand technical drawings is essential. The working environment could vary depending on the nature of the role so awareness and understanding of electrical health and safety procedures will be required.

How much will I get paid?
Starting salaries for qualified technicians can range from £18,000-£24,000 increasing to the region of £40,000 for experienced technicians.
