Electrical Fitter

The job of an Electrical Fitter involves;

  • Installing, repairing and maintaining electrical plant apparatus such as electrical switches, isolators, circuit breakers and transformers in substations.
  • Installing, repairing and maintaining the equipment that controls, protects and monitors the electricity.
  • Carrying out preventative maintenance and switching operations
  • Inspecting, testing and diagnosing faults
  • Assembling or removing components
  • Adjusting and configuring electrical systems

Have you got what it takes?

You should have a good understanding and awareness of health and safety and you'll need a very responsible attitude to work. 

This is a physically demanding job and you will work outdoors, so you should be prepared to work in any  kind of weather. 

You will need to have good practical skills for handling tools and instruments and be prepared for some hard work. This is a very skilled job and some aspects require significant amounts of concentration.
