Landfill Gas Technician

The Job

You will carry out a range of technical duties that will ensure the site is operated within Health & Safety and Environmental Law, Site Licence Conditions, Site Working Plan, Environmental Management Systems and Company procedures.

You will also assist in the safe, efficient and profitable operation and maintenance of landfill utilisation and leachate control equipment.

Have you got what it takes?

1. Provide routine monitoring, fault-finding and troubleshooting skills to the landfill gas fields

2. Act on information received to maintain operational efficiency including the implementation of short-term remedial measures.

3. Carrying out landfill gas installation and maintenance works on site, either as part of a team or working with minimal supervision.

4. Undertake operational monitoring and operations of the leachate pumping system and maintenance of pumps. Installation and maintenance of associated air and liquid pipework.

5. Liaise with internal personnel and external contractors to ensure that all work carried out are safely and efficiently executed.

6. General operation of plant, carry out safe shutdown procedures prior to works and re-start after completion of work.

7. Attend site for unplanned stoppages and seek to bring plant on line with minimal downtime.

8. Assist with other duties as and when required.

The skills you would need

1. Good general level of education, (Mechanical/Electrical to ONC level or equivalent) coupled with relevant practical experience in an associated discipline.

2. Have supplementary electrical skills and knowledge of three phase electrical systems.

3. A working knowledge of medium sized power generation plant and machinery.

4. Experience of operating landfill gas systems, particularly in relation to safety aspects.

5. Practical understanding and experience of site work, particularly operational landfill sites.

6. Practical understanding of gas/fluid flow properties and pipework techniques.

7. Resilient and self-motivated, calm under pressure and able to work as part of a team and on own initiative.

8. Current, clean driving licence.
