Mechanical Technician

The role of a Mechanical Technician involves:

  • Performing preventative and predictive maintenance tasks on mechanical equipment according to maintenance plans
  • Performing maintenance and repair work on manufacturing or faulty mechanical plant equipment
  • Protect the environmental by reducing hazardous waste and spillages
  • Ensuring own safety and the safety of others by strictly complying with the safety procedures of the organisation
  • Ensure a high quality workmanship at all times

Have you got what it takes?

You will need to hold a relevant ONC/ HNC/ Trade associated qualification and work experience as a service/ maintenance technician in industrial plants, preferably power plants. Experience of working in the service/ maintenance sector of industrial plant would be helpful but not essential.

To start a career in the water industry you should contact your local water company - find out who you pay your bill to and contact them to discuss opportunities. Many companies use contractors or consultants to undertake the work on their behalf.
