

Apprenticeships are open to anyone aged over 16 living in England and not in full-time education, whether they are just leaving school, have been working for years or are looking to start a new career.
Apprenticeships take between one and four years to complete depending on the level of Apprenticeship, the Apprentices' ability and the industry.
Apprenticeship funding is available from the National Apprenticeship Service (NAS). As the employer, you are responsible for providing your apprentices with an induction into their role, giving them on-the-job training and paying their wages.

The purpose of this Intermediate and Advanced Level Apprenticeship is to support the industry to address these challenges by developing occupational competence in a wide range of job roles in the gas transmission and distribution and gas utilisation sectors of the industry.

This Apprenticeship has been developed to support employers in the Government's roll out of installing Smart Meters in all homes in the UK by 2014. The Apprenticeship covers the installation of both gas and electric meters and associated equipment, including communication equipment. This is an Intermediate Level Apprenticeship only.
