Recognition of Learning

The Recognition of Learning programme has been designed to improve the quality of training and to provide employers with information on where they may obtain good courses that meet their needs. Recognition of Learning is available to all providers active in the Energy & Utility Skills (EU Skills) footprint, including employers' own in-house training and independent commercial businesses.

It is intended to add value to both employers and training providers who are Members of EU Skills providing a quality mark for use within the energy and utility sector by ensuring that recognised learning programmes, delivered into our industries are comprehensive and meet appropriate quality standards.

The Recognition of Learning programme has been independently scrutinised against a robust criteria to ensure it is:

  • Of a high quality and fit for purpose
  • Flexible, straightforward and easy to administer
  • Appropriate to the energy and utilities industries
  • Able to meet the needs of both the employer and employee
  • Less bureaucratic
  • Valued by employers, training providers and individuals

EU Skills, manages the Energy & Utility Skills Register (EUSR), an independent register that enables the employer and others to check that people hold the appropriate 'licences to operate' as determined by the industries themselves. This information is often helpful when a registered person moved from one employer to another.

The Recognition of Learning programme leads to registration on EUSR. EUSR provides additional individual recognition captured on a central, national skills database which employers can interrogate at any time via the EUSR website.
