Occupational and Functional Map of the UK Waste Management Sector
The aim of the Occupational and Functional Map is to identify the occupations and detail the work functions carried out in the industry.
This research report takes forward the work undertaken by WAMITAB in 1999 and facilitates the progression of standards and qualifications development in the industry, ensuring that National Occupational Standards (S/ NVQ) and related vocational qualifications will be valid well into the future and meet the demands of delivering a skilled and qualified workforce.
Labour Market Investigation of the UK Waste Management Sector
This Labour Market Investigation of the UK waste management sector is a unique and timely project that has provided the first attempt at a detailed understanding of labour and skills issues facing the sector. This project was designed to provide a complete assessment of the labour market structure in the sector both presently and into the future, taking into account the prevailing economic and legislative conditions. It was also intended to identify, and where possible quantify, skills gaps and shortages in the sector. This leads to a review of qualification requirements alongside numbers employed at each stage of the supply chain. It builds on work undertaken during the occupational and functional mapping project of the waste management sector, which was published by Energy & Utility Skills in 2005.
Occupational and Functional Map of the UK Recycling Industry
The occupational and functional maps of the recycling industry set out in this document are based on primary research carried out by Energy & Utility Skills, which was commissioned by the Waste and Resources Action Programme (WRAP).
This major project is of considerable importance to those responsible for personnel planning and development in the UK recycling industry. It has involved detailed analysis of all occupations in terms of work roles and job functions, it also attempts to forecast how work roles are changing and the numbers employed are likely to expand or decrease in each occupational group.
