As the sector Skills Body for the power, gas, water, and waste industries, Energy & Utility Skills supports employers and IfATE in reviewing and developing apprenticeship standards, EPA plans, and funding bands. As the skills voice of industry, we ensure the sector’s skills needs are met and communicate all changes to standards and assessment plans to our network.
The below highlights important changes to the Maintenance and Operations Engineering Technician (MOET) End-point Assessment (EPA) Plan.
Key Changes to the MOET EPA Plan:
The changes to the EPA Plan simplify the assessment process as follows:
- The technical interview will now be conducted by a single independent technical expert, rather than two.
- The single independent technical expert must be currently working in the industry and be occupationally competent to a minimum of level 3 or equivalent, rather than a level 4 or equivalent.
Upcoming Roadshows:
Following the success of our MOET Roadshows in Manchester and Birmingham earlier this year, we are excited to announce five additional events in November in Newcastle, Manchester, Sheffield, Birmingham and Greater London.
These upcoming sessions will expand on the topics covered previously, offering the latest updates on the new Engineering Maintenance Technician (EMT) apprenticeship standards, which will be replacing MOET as it ends in 2025.
The roadshows are a great opportunity to stay up to date on the latest developments, understand the implications of the new standards, and start planning for the impact on your delivery and customers.
If you are interested in attending one of these sessions, please fill out the form below and we will provide further details soon.
Supporting skills for the sector is our priority, and we remain committed to working closely with training providers and industry stakeholders to ensure high-quality training and assessment standards.
