Sector Skills Research and Market Intelligence from Energy & Utility Skills

- We were commissioned by Hull and East Yorkshire SDF2 Project Board to produce a Green Jobs and Skills Analysis covering eight sectors of the green economy in and around the Humber area.
- We were commissioned by Northern Ireland's Department for the Economy to produce a skills assessment covering eight sectors of the nation's green economy.
- For Skills Development Scotland, we have produced a detailed analysis of the workforce demands estimates for Scotland's power sector through to 2030
- For Northern Ireland's Department for Economy, we produced a series of occupational heat maps for seven sectors of the nation's energy infrastructure.
- We produced a detailed assessment of the skills and workforce requirements of the UK's domestic green technologies industry for a major energy supplier.
For something a little more “off-the-shelf”, we offer a unique assessment of local level labour market conditions for a geographic area that suits you (i.e. the resident population within your area of operation).
We have developed an approach which will highlight those local areas which are likely to have a surplus of talent, and those local areas where recruiting the skills you need might be more of a challenge.
This is based on ranking each local area against the national or regional average across of a range of 15 labour market indicators.
Each area is then given an overall rank based on their average performance against all labour market indicators – from best performing to worst.

Workforce Demand Estimates
This series of reports contain estimates of the number of new jobs and people required across the UK energy and utilities sector by 2030:
- Energy and utilities sector (containing the aggregate analysis from across all five industry of the sector)
- Gas networks (including the manufacture, distribution and retail trade of gas through the networks)
- Gas utilisation (consisting of the domestic gas engineer workforce and related activities)
- Power (including the production (via seven different technologies), transmission, distribution and retail trade of electricity; the construction of electricity assets)
- Waste and recycling (including the collection, treatment, disposal and recycling of waste)
- Water (including the collection, treatment and supply of water; sewerage; the construction of water assets)
