Energy & Utility Skills offers a range of Gas Safety Schemes to our training providers:

SHEA Gas
Safety, Health and Environment Awareness (SHEA) Gas has been developed in conjunction with the Gas industry to provide a uniform approach to health, safety and environmental awareness training across the Gas industry, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidelines. Network Construction Operations (Gas)
Network Construction Operations (Gas) (NCO Gas) (previously known as Gas Network Operations (GNO)) is a registration of the skills, knowledge and understanding required by individuals to perform various tasks and duties on the gas networks. The registration categories have been designed to reflect the roles carried out on all networks. Click here to find out more.

Safe Control of Operations (SCO)
This training programme is for all individuals involved in operational activities on gas networks. There are five categories of training for Competent Persons/Authorising Engineers covering the different levels of responsibility within Routine and Non-Routine Operations. Smart Metering Scheme
Our Smart Metering scheme is intended for all persons carrying out gas or electrical meter installations. The National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP) has worked in collaboration with its member employers and major industry stakeholder partners to develop the National Assessment Standards for this scheme.  Click here to find out more.

Utility Excavation Scheme 
This scheme is based on standards developed by Energy & Utility Skills in collaboration with organisations working within our sector’s supply chain. Approved training programmes under this scheme support a consistent approach to skills development with reliable training outcomes for individuals performing excavation activities. Approved Provider Status
You may also be interested in becoming an Approved Provider if you’re not already. It’s a straightforward process where we quality assure your training centre against our criteria. Once you have gained provider approval, our Quality team will review and approve your training programmes for approval or endorsement. Costs are £500+VAT for Provider Approval, including on-going monitoring and an annual provider audit, to ensure the quality standards are maintained. There is an additional charge of £250+VAT for each Energy & Utility Skills scheme you wish to deliver or to get one of your own training programmes endorsed by us.
